Hey! I’m Brittany Dawn and welcome to the journey of our family of 5 building a modern homestead around our A-frame cabin in the Canadian Pacific Northwest in the beautiful city of Revelstoke, BC!
A little about Brittany Dawn:
I am determined! If I put my mind to something there is nothing I will not accomplish … just ask my husband, Garret.
ALL or NOTHING for this GAL: I am either super lazy… like can sit and watch TV for 8 hours straight OR I can accomplish a million things in one day. While I have been re-evaluating my priorities in life, especially the amount of time I spend on Social Media. I also know I can’t do nothing, thus this website was created. I love to have meaningful conversations, (which is why I may end up here more than on Instagram) and I love to inspire other women that they are capable of ANYTHING … from running a chainsaw to building a house I think we are capable of anything we put our mind to!
My husband, Garret, works away from home on Natural Gas Pipelines. He loves his job, but our dream is for him to be home every night! So while I need something to occupy some of my time while my 3 boys are at school it is hard to commit to having a job that requires me to be committed to a schedule. So if I just suddenly disappear for weeks or months at a time it’s because I am prioritizing experiences and “being in the moment” RATHER than trying to capture every “Instagram worthy” moment.
Our Families Goals
We relocated from Alberta to British Columbia in 2021. WHY??? Because we spent most of our free time in Revelstoke, BC whenever Garret had days off. Most months he actually only slept in our bedroom 2 nights. If we moved to Revelstoke then at least my hubby could hopefully spend more nights at home, while still getting to enjoy the things we love. While our journey of moving to Revelstoke has been nothing short of chaotic we still have hope that this was a good decision for our family.
We bought 9 acres at the base of Mount McPherson. In the summer mountain biking trails wind up the mountain behind us and, in the winter amazing, daily groomed Nordic trails surround our property. Our goal is to build guest A-frame cabins and a gorgeous flower field that allows guests to come and u-pick. Time will tell what we accomplish but I hope you enjoy following along on our journey!

A bit everything. I want to share about our house-building journey. But I love discussing motherhood, taking our kids into the backcountry, homesteading, gardening, and home decor – especially a lack of decor (minimalism makes me happy!)
